There is an ungodly spiritual authority in the Ecclesia today, which is nothing more than the prideful spirit of control, manipulation, domination and intimidation and a rebellion of the rightful authority of God. One of the main results of this ungodly authority is the suppression of the Son-ship dimensions of the priesthood, kingship and the prophetic of the laity/ believers.
Revelation 2:6 &15 warns us of the deeds and the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes.
The root of the word Nicolaitans comes from Greek nikao, to conquer or overcome, and laos, which means people and which the word laity comes from. The two words together especially means the destruction of the people and refers to the earliest form of what we call a priestly order or clergy which later on in church history divided people and allowed for leadership other than those led by the spirit of the risen Lord.
Faithful believers who have put on Christ Jesus, are all God’s laity. Peter exhorted us to…”Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not for filthy lucre but of a ready mind. Neither as being lords over God’s heritage but being examples to the flock. And when the chief shepherd shall appear, you shall receive a crown of glory that fades not away.” (1 Peter 5:2-4)
Shepherds serve the sheep but the wolves that clothe themselves with so-called leadership and spiritual authority serve themselves, thinking that they serve God, in essence, this makes them false Christs. Early church leaders were established as overseers, not a ruling hierarchy.
This word not only means to conquer the laity but it also denotes the destruction of the people of God. To conquer with the intent to destroy their rightful place in Christ and his kingdom by invading the people with religion, tradition, and vain philosophies or vain spirituality.
Daddy God said “My people are destroyed because of lack of Knowledge” ….of Him and his Kingdom. But the Knowledge of God is replaced with “special knowledge = Gnosticism. Which lead to lawlessness and indulgences of the flesh or it leads to the other extreme of asceticism.
~ Excerpt from Witness Lee from Living Streams Ministry ~
“The word “Nicolaitan” comes from two words in Greek, niko and laos. The word niko means to conquer or subdue, while laos means people. Put together, these two words mean to subdue the people, or in other words, the clergy over the laity system. Because the service of the Lord has been commercialized, the clergy-laity system spontaneously appears. This system annuls the function of so many members and kills the Body of Christ. It is a great evil. It has been developed to such an extent in some places that if any of the laity should pray, he would certainly be condemned. This is religion at its worst. Nothing offends the Lord so much as the clergy over the laity system.”
