~ SEEKING THE LORD ~
There are two Hebrew words for the word for “Seek”
The first is “Baqash” meaning: to find in order to draw near to and touch. That is what King David was alluding to when he said “to taste and see that the Lord is good”.
The second is “Darash” meaning: to find someone to love; also means to tread something for a purpose, to tread upon the object of ones affection for one’s own pleasure or for the benefit of the object. The Apostle Paul painted an excellent example of this word when he said to come boldly before or tread before the throne of Daddy of God, that one may obtain.
Deuteronomy 4:29 But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.
1 Chronicles 28:9 “And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.
2 Chronicles 15:2 He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.
Ezra 8:22 I was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to protect us from enemies on the road, because we had told the king, “The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to him, but his great anger is against all who forsake him.”
Job 8:5-6 But if you will look to God and plead with the Almighty, if you are pure and upright, even now he will rouse himself on your behalf and restore you to your rightful place.
Psalm 9:10 Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Psalm 14:2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.
Psalm 24:5-6 He will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God his Savior. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, O God of Jacob. Selah
Psalm 27:8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.
Psalm 105:4 Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
Psalm 119:2 Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart.
Psalm 119:10 I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.
Isaiah 55:6 Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Lamentations 3:24-25 I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;
Hosea 10:12 Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your un-plowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers righteousness on you.
Amos 5:4 This is what the LORD says to the house of Israel: “Seek me and live;
Luke 11:9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
Luke 12:31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
Luke 19:10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Acts 17:26-28 From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.
Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
